Do women watch porn?

Do women watch porn? Well duh!

According to "Violet Blue" in O magazineIn the first three months of 2007, according to Nielsen/NetRatings, approximately one in three visitors to adult entertainment Web sites was female; during the same period, nearly 13 million American women were checking out porn online at least once each month. Theresa Flynt, vice president of marketing for Hustler video, says that women account for 56 percent of business at her company's video stores. "And the female audience is increasing," she adds. "Women are buying more porn." (They're creating more of it, too: Female director Candida Royalle's hard-core erotic videos, made expressly for women viewers, sell at the rate of approximately 10,000 copies a month.)

Women are watching porn, some with their mates and some without.
We have always known men watched porn, the bachelor party is notorious for such behavior. Why do we even have to ask if women are watching porn?

In a book I just happen to be reading, it states that "In tests in which women were asked to watch porn movies, most of the women denied being aroused, yet physical tests showed signs of vaginal lubrication and engorgement."

Why would women deny watching porn or being aroused by porn? It begs for answers and brings on more questions.

Are women not suppose to watch porn?

This topic could open up a stream of questions to be asked and it also brings out the "against" all pornography side of things.
Whether anybody should be watching porn, or even if porn should even exist, it does and everyone is watching it or talking about it or debating it, male and female. It surrounds us and it should be addressed.

Like I always say "Everyone is doing it, no one is talking about it."

  1. I have learned that opting for freebie porn online usually results in tons of viruses and a subsequent computer meltdown. I need to visit the nearest Hustler store.

  2. There are sites on the internet (good, well designed and safe sites) specifically full of porn mainly intended for women. One such is "For The Girls" and I applaud their enterprise and can see no reason on the planet why women shouldn't enjoy porn just as much as men (sex and porn together do form the biggest business on Earth, so most of us must like something about it).

I simply can't understand why on earth women shouldn't enjoy porn if they want to (and why wouldn't they?)- objections to the idea simply don't make any sense at all. In fact, the whole suggestion by some that they shouldn't is sexist in the extreme.

It may be that the female of our species prefers things to be more erotic (the brain, for those of us that have one, is after all our most erogenous organ) and perhaps they might like it to be with a different slant to it, from what the average male seems to find pleasurable.

However, I can see no reason at all why women should not experience and enjoy whatever sexual pleasures they like. To me, whatever consenting adults want to do together or alone in private is no one's business but their own.

  3. The explanation I received (when my dad caught me watching his collection when I was 15) was that women experience things differently then men. While men are more visual women are more sensual and prefer touch to optic. I have to disagree with his assessment.

Sidenote: I got in more trouble for lying to cover up the embarrassment of watching porn and getting caught than in actually watching.

  4. I will get some more information on the kinds of porn women like, I know what kind this woman likes. This subject is very interesting in the how it is viewed differently by people. Will totally have to expand on some things, and maybe some research.
