Who Do You Think You Are? A Self Image thing. Sexnfries Podcast Episode 3

Who Do You See When You Look in the Mirror?
There are mirrors everywhere.
The one in your bathroom.
The rearview mirror in your car.
The dressing room at the mall.
The front-facing camera on your phone that somehow makes you question every life choice you've ever made.
But the most powerful mirror isn't made of glass.
It's the one inside your head.
It's the voice that tells you you're too old, too heavy, too awkward, too loud, too quiet, too much... or somehow not enough.
And if you're anything like me, that voice can be downright rude.
The Story We Tell Ourselves
Have you ever looked at an old photograph and thought, I looked really good there.
Funny thing is...
You probably didn't think that when the picture was taken.
At the time, you were busy criticizing your stomach, your hair, your arms, your smile, or whatever else your brain decided wasn't good enough.
Years later, you wonder why you were so hard on yourself.
The picture didn't change.
Your perspective did.
How many moments are we missing today because we're too busy criticizing ourselves to enjoy them?
Self-Image Isn't Identity
One of the biggest lessons I've learned is that self-image and identity are not the same thing.
Self-image is how you see yourself.
Identity is who you actually are.
Those two don't always line up.
You can be kind and still think you're not enough.
You can be successful and still feel like an imposter.
You can be beautiful and only notice the wrinkles.
You can be loved and still struggle to love yourself.
Our brains have a funny way of collecting criticism while quietly throwing compliments into the recycling bin.
Comparison Is a Thief
Social media doesn't help.
It's easy to scroll through perfectly filtered vacations, flawless makeup, spotless kitchens, and people who somehow wake up looking like they belong in a magazine.
Meanwhile, you're wondering if dry shampoo counts as self-care and whether leggings qualify as business attire.
Here's the truth:
You're comparing your everyday life to someone else's highlight reel.
Nobody posts the argument before date night.
The panic attack before the family photo.
The laundry mountain.
The tears.
The self-doubt.
Everyone has something they're carrying.
Confidence Isn't Perfection
Some of the most confident people you'll ever meet still have insecurities.
Confidence isn't waking up every morning thinking you're amazing.
It's choosing not to let your insecurities make your decisions.
It's wearing the swimsuit.
Applying for the job.
Taking the trip.
Starting the business.
Walking into the room anyway.
Confidence grows every time you stop waiting to feel ready.
What If You Spoke to Yourself Like a Friend?
Think about someone you love.
Would you ever say to them...
"You look awful."
"You're too old."
"No one wants to hear what you have to say."
"You're not enough."
Probably not.
Yet many of us say those things to ourselves almost daily.
Imagine if you became your own biggest supporter instead of your harshest critic.
How different would your life feel?
The Reflection Worth Seeing
The person looking back at you in the mirror has survived every hard day you've ever faced.
They've carried heartbreak.
Celebrated victories.
Made mistakes.
Learned lessons.
Kept going.
That deserves more credit than it usually gets.
You are so much more than a number on a scale, a wrinkle, a scar, or a bad hair day.
You're a collection of experiences, resilience, kindness, humor, strength, and stories.
That's the reflection worth seeing.
🍟 Extra Sauce
The next time you catch yourself criticizing the person in the mirror, pause.
Instead of asking,
"What's wrong with me?"
Ask,
"What have I been through that made me this person?"
You might discover that the reflection staring back isn't someone who needs fixing.
It's someone who's been becoming.
Pull Up a Chair
How has your relationship with the mirror changed over the years?
Has it become kinder?
More critical?
Or are you finally starting to see yourself the way the people who love you already do?
I'd love to hear your story in the comments.
Stay Sexy
Staying sexy isn't about looking younger.
It's about refusing to let self-doubt steal your joy.
Wear the outfit.
Smile for the picture.
Take the trip.
Be seen.
The world doesn't need a more perfect version of you.
It needs the real one.
Real Talk. Zero Filters. Extra Sauce.
We laugh. We cry. We carry on.
